Vauxhall’s Electric Vans: The UK’s First EV-Only Plant
Ellesmere Port is the UK's first vehicle plant built exclusively for electric production. It now makes the Combo Electric and Vivaro Electric ranges, including the Combo Life Electric and Vivaro Life Electric people-carrier variants.

Is Mini Still Being Produced In Oxford?
In 2023, BMW Group announced a £600 million investment to make Mini Plant Oxford fully electric. Cooper Electric and Aceman production was due to start there in 2026, ahead of a complete switch to battery-electric manufacturing by 2030. That switch hasn't happened. As of mid-2026, BMW is reviewing the timing for reintroducing battery-electric Mini production at Oxford. Both models continue to be built in China, and the Countryman Electric is built in Germany.
Why Has It Been Delayed?
Post-Brexit Rules of Origin require electric vehicles to meet UK or EU component thresholds.
