What was on your mind when you started the Electric Car Scheme?

I was trying to get an electric car and saw there was this government benefit that would allow me to save around 40% on the car, similar to the cycle-to-work scheme.

I tried to access it by calling some providers, but the first question I got was, "Do you have a thousand staff?" Then I saw the prices - they had some good prices but not the full range on the market. There was also a lot of risk the business had to take on.

I thought everyone's going to want a car like this, so there needs to be a better way. Hence, I started following my nose and started the business.

What have been the big highlights since starting in 2021?

Starting with just the two of us, we were literally doing everything ourselves - from building the product to getting clients on board and getting them into cars.

Looking back now, we've moved on massively:

• We've got a market-leading product

• Hundreds of thousands of employees can access the scheme

• We've built a fantastic team of talented individuals

• More than 50 people come to work for the Electric Car Scheme every day contributing to our mission

• Together with our clients, we're having massive impacts on the environment

• We've achieved B Corp certification

What does B Corp certification mean?

Being a B Corp is external certification for what we know we've been doing all along with our mission. We're trying to make a difference to the world for good in terms of environment, sustainability, and our communities.

The B Corp certification means an external, impartial body has looked at our company, reviewed everything we do and our impact, looked at our processes, how we treat our people, what we do for the environment, how we support our clients, and said this meets the standards of a broader community of businesses trying to do good for the world.

It's huge for us to not just say ourselves that we're doing good for the world, but to have an impartial company saying we do the right thing.

How does Net Zero fit into B Corp?

At the heart of our company's mission is to do good for the world and environment, helping people make Net Zero choices by making it simple, affordable, and obvious.

B Corp is about businesses that do good for the world, particularly the environment and society as a whole. Our mission and what B Corp stands for are quite nicely tied together.

Being part of the community of businesses that use business as a force for good fits really well with our values. It's great to finally get the certification process completed because it ties together what we do every day with what B Corp is all about.
