The Charge Scheme - Explained
I currently manage the business development team here. I recently came off working on the Charge Scheme, which is our new product.
All new companies now through the Electric Car Scheme have the Charge Scheme as well, so their employees can salary sacrifice their charging, which really helps convince people to drive an electric car because public charging can be a little tricky sometimes, complicated, and generally costs quite a lot.
What's nice is it unifies a load of different charging stations into one app. You don't have to have multiple different cards and apps - it's just one app and it covers 80% of the chargers in the UK.
You can go onto the app and it knows where you are and shows your nearest charge points. It will tell you how many chargers are free, how much they cost, if this is usually a busy time for those chargers, when it was last used, and how often it's operational.
You can even filter by just free chargers. Once you've found a charger, you head over there and the app links to a card. You tap this on the machine, choose your charge rate, and it directly links with your payment method on the app.
Once you finish charging, it charges your debit card associated with the app, which then gets fed through to payroll through our employee portal. You save against the cost of charging the same way as you do for cars - you can have charging in your overall salary sacrifice package.
