Model Y Performance and Handling
Building on the experience from the Model 3 Performance, Tesla has put the Model Y through extensive development, including testing at the Nürburgring. The SUV now features the latest Performance 4DU drive units, delivering a combined 460bhp to all four wheels. This enables a 0–60mph time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
The Model Y Performance also benefits from an upgraded battery pack. While the overall weight remains similar to the standard Model Y, the new cells offer higher energy density. Tesla does not disclose battery capacities, but the WLTP cycle estimates a range of around 360 miles and efficiency of roughly 3.8 miles per kWh.
Handling enhancements include adaptive suspension technology derived from the Model 3 Performance, re-tuned for the larger SUV. Additional upgrades to springs, roll bars, bushings, and the rear body structure increase torsional stiffness. While the Model Y Performance is not intended as a track-focused vehicle, it is capable of spirited driving on twisty roads. Custom drive modes are included, featuring the familiar ‘Insane’ acceleration setting and an adjustable traction control mode for more dynamic handling.

New Exterior Design
Tesla’s design team has made subtle but meaningful changes to the Model Y Performance. Updated front and rear bumpers help reduce drag and lift, improving high-speed stability and handling. Signature touches like the carbon fibre rear spoiler, red brake calipers, and Performance badging clearly distinguish it from standard Model Y variants.
The 21" Arachnid wheels not only enhance the SUV’s aggressive stance but also contribute to aerodynamic efficiency, keeping the car planted on the road while supporting spirited driving. Overall, the exterior updates balance sporty aesthetics with functional performance improvements.
New Performance Powertrain
The Model Y Performance benefits from an upgraded powertrain paired with high-density battery cells, delivering more energy for both spirited driving and extended range.
Charging has also been enhanced, with the ability to add up to 151 miles of range in just 15 minutes using Tesla’s Supercharger network. This combination of power and efficiency ensures the Performance model can keep up with demanding driving while remaining practical for longer journeys.
Adaptive Suspension and Unique Drive Modes
The Model Y Performance’s adaptive suspension works in harmony with its custom tyres to keep the SUV agile and responsive at any speed.
Drivers can fine-tune traction using Stability Assist Mode, choosing between standard, reduced, or off settings to match their driving style or the road conditions.

21" Arachnid 2.0 Wheels
Tesla has brought the striking 21" Arachnid 2.0 wheels from the Model S to the Model Y Performance, giving it an unmistakable sporty stance.
Paired with red brake calipers, these wheels elevate the SUV’s look, emphasising its athletic edge while enhancing handling and stability.
16" First-Row QHD Touchscreen
Inside, the Model Y Performance introduces a larger 16" QHD touchscreen for the front row, replacing the standard 15.4" display.
With nearly 80 per cent more pixels than other facelifted Model Ys, this high-resolution screen delivers sharper visuals and a more immersive experience, exclusive to the Performance variant.
Carbon Fibre Interior Trims and Performance Seats
The interior has been upgraded with real carbon fibre trim on the dash and doors, giving the cabin a premium feel. Front passengers enjoy specially designed Performance sport seats with heating, ventilation, and enhanced support.
First-row seats also feature power recline, tilt adjustment, and thigh extension to ensure the perfect driving position for exploiting the SUV’s 460bhp. All the standard Model Y comforts remain, including the panoramic roof, 8.0in rear screen, and full Autopilot software.
