The Electric Car Scheme shares best new number plates available forEVs
RE25 NEW, SO25 LAR and CL25 EAN among potential EV themednumberplates now up for grabs with many automatically banned by the DVLA
The Electric Car Scheme has revealed some of the best new number plates available ahead of the new plate day and the introduction of ’25 plates, as well as some of the combinations you won’t be seeing on UK roads anytime soon.
March 1st sees the start of the 2025 number plate options, with the potential for 7 million new combinations being introduced many drivers will be looking out for a brand new car to take advantage of the updated dates. But the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have pre-empted many of the more obscene options, with around 3,400 number plate combinations already banned.
March is also set to be a record month for the uptake of electric vehicles, as changes to road tax, national insurance contributions and end of quarter sales all contribute to drivers making the switch to an EV. This has opened up a whole new sector of potential number plate puns for drivers. The Electric Car Scheme has pulled together some of the best ones below:
Best new EV 2025 number plates
PO25 WER (Power)
BA25 TRY (Battery)
RE25 NEW (Renewable)
EN25 ERG (Energy)

The Electric Car Scheme CEO and Co-Founder Thom Groot commented:
"This March is set to be a record month for the uptake of EVs, the combined effects of the new number plates, the incoming road tax changes and the upcoming hike in employer National Insurance contributions, means that demand has never been stronger for EVs. With all of these EVs hitting the roads, we fully expect to see these drivers getting creative with their number plates.
“While these personalised number plates don’t always make your car more valuable, it can help it stand out from the crowd. If you are interested in leasing an brand new electric car with a ’25 plate, you can save between 20 and 50% through salary sacrifice at The Electric Car Scheme.”

About The Electric Car Scheme
The Electric Car Scheme is a salary sacrifice employee benefit that allows employees to access electric cars at a 30-60% lower cost. The Electric Car Scheme is the first available offering from parent company, Net Zero Choices. The company was set up in June 2020 after Co-Founders Thom Groot and Tom Eilon found the government's tax incentive for employees to switch to electric and go green impossible to access.
