By Design: How Ridge Built an EV Scheme That Works for All of Their People
Ridge Surveyors is part of one of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary built environment consultancies, a business known for getting the details right. With over 1,300 colleagues across the UK, Ridge supports clients across property, construction, infrastructure, energy and the public sector, bringing technical rigour and a genuine focus on outcomes to every project.
The Challenge
Ridge had real ambition for their EV offer. Already running a salary sacrifice scheme, they came back to the market not because anything was wrong but because they believed there was more they could give their people. With sustainability high on the agenda and a workforce who value real choice, the leadership team set out to find a scheme that matched the bar Ridge sets for itself in everything else.
Their priorities were clear:
The best possible value for employees, across the full range of vehicles.
Access to used and nearly new EVs as a faster, more accessible entry point to electric driving.
A scheme that genuinely worked for everyone, regardless of role or salary.
Why Ridge Chose The Electric Car Scheme
The best value in the market
For a firm with the diligence Ridge is known for, "good enough" was never going to cut it. Our multi-funder model, sourcing leases from across the market rather than from a single funder, gives Ridge's employees access to the most competitive prices available, and gives Ridge the confidence that every colleague choosing an EV is getting the best possible deal.
Used and nearly new EVs: a key differentiator
The breadth of our used and nearly new range was a major draw. For Ridge, opening the scheme up beyond brand-new vehicles meant opening it up to far more of their workforce, making electric driving a realistic option for colleagues at every stage of their career.
A seamless switch
Moving to a new provider needed to be effortless, for Ridge's HR and finance teams, and for the employees already on a lease. Our onboarding team made the transition smooth from start to finish, with no disruption to the team and no break in service for colleagues mid-lease.
A scheme that puts people first
Ridge has chosen to pass the employer National Insurance savings the scheme generates back to their employees, making an already strong offer go even further for the team. It's exactly the kind of considered, people-first decision Ridge is known for.
The Impact
Since launching to employees in February 2024, the scheme has been embraced by Ridge colleagues in a way that speaks for itself:
Dozens of EVs have already been delivered to Ridge colleagues, with more on the way each month.
More than 4-in-10 orders are for used or nearly new EVs, by far the highest used-car uptake we've seen, and a clear sign that the breadth of the range is making electric driving accessible to a much wider group of Ridge's people.
Employee choice spans the full market, from the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y through to the Audi e-tron, Polestar 2, Volkswagen ID.3, Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz EQA.
Adoption is sustained, not seasonal: two years on, orders are still flowing, with the most recent placed just this month.
"Working with a team as thoughtful as Ridge has been a real pleasure. They came to us with a clear vision for what they wanted their EV offer to do for their people and seeing colleagues across the firm embrace the scheme, particularly the used and nearly new range, has been brilliant to be part of."
